Fighting against bad ideas: building houses in bad areas
I was out yesterday in Sawley with Labour people and non-Labour people, listening to the community’s opinions on bad ideas coming from Erewash Borough Council.
The Council’s new plan to build 300 houses on a green space, locked behind a railway crossing, in an area with roads that can’t cope with the additional capacity, is a bad idea.
People in Sawley didn’t care which political party we’d come from, because they overwhelmingly supported our fight against this proposal. It was great to do some community politics without the party political angle – it’s all about working for local people to achieve the best outcome for the majority of people.
